Project Description

The 520m-long Agin cable-stayed bridge has a main span of 280m, back spans of 120m and two 86m high column pylons. The bridge is part of the Agin Provincial Road enabling easier access of the Agin Region.

Mega Yapi, VSL licensee in Turkey, was the main contractor for the bridge project and VSL Heavy Lifting assisted with the lifting operations. For the main span 18 bridge segments, weighing appr. 110t each, had been lifted from barges or the ground onto the bridge deck depending on the water level of the dam. Two lifting gantries, each equipped with two strand lifting jacks, were installed at each side of the bridge. This allowed to worked independently at each side. In July 2015 the last segment was successfully lifted, closing the gap.
