Project Description

The Sanaga gas field is situated offshore, approximately 16km from the southern coastal town of Kribi in Cameroon. The Sanaga 1 platform will provide gas through a pipeline to a new gas-fired power plant 9km north-east of Kribi. The supply is based on a gas sales agreement with the state company SNH.

A movable offshore application barge (MOAB) for the exploration of the gas field was built in Europe in 2011 and towed to the Sanaga field, making several stops en route.

VSL Heavy Lifting was awarded the contract for the strand jacking operations required for the offshore installation of the self-elevating leg barge. The VSL Heavy Lifting team installed the lifting equipment onto the platform in March 2012 at the deep-water port of Limbe, Cameroon.
